#111 - Go Ice Fishing (Contributed by Keith Stone)
January 23-25, 2009 - Keith Stone put together an ice fishing
weekend at a house in Limerick, ME with a bunch of Phi Sigs. Good times
were had, and it got really friggin' cold (like -15F) Sunday night.
Turns out ice fishing has some important differences relative to
regular fishing. Setup is more strenuous, unless you have a powered
auger to cut your hole in the ice. And once the "tip-ups", which are
sort of like mouse traps for fish, are set, you just stand around
waiting for a little orange flag to pop up. Also, it's ridiculously
cold. One very important similarity is that, when that little flag does
pop up, much like when you feel that tug or see the bobber bounce up
and down in regular fishing, there is a brief period of excitement that
leads, inevitably, to disappointment once you realize the fish got away.
