Nathaniel and I first got Revolution season tickets in 2002, and we enjoyed them immensely throughout the entire season. He got arrested at the MLS Final at Gillette Stadium on October 20, 2002. As a result he received a "Letter of Disinvite", which was never rescinded even though the trespassing charges against him were dropped. So we took a season off. Went to a playoff game in 2003 and determined that it was all clear. Got back at it in 2004. I can give you more details on the arrest fiasco if you want.
After his death, I decided not to get season tickets for 2005. Then I changed my mind, and thankfully three good friends were there for me to make the experience more tolerable (Thanks Becca, Brad and Brett - it meant more to me than you will ever understand).
We got season tickets again this year, though Brett had to drop off for some reason. But we picked up Christian and a guest, so there are five this year.
Allright so the whole point of all this is that Revs games are a lot of fun, and they were something Nathaniel and I deeply enjoyed. There are two of these games scheduled near NGK Day. The first is Thursday August 2nd at 7:00pm versus the Kansas City Wizards. The second is Sunday August 5th at 4:00pm versus DC United. I'll be there, and I'm guessing that Becca, Brad and Christian will be there. And we'll be tailgating too, unless something goes awry. If you would like to join us, just lemme know when you fill out the form .
Note that I can order tickets in “The Fort”. This is the standing, yelling, chanting section behind the goal at the north end of the field. It's a lot of fun, but can be a bit overwhelming to the uninitiated. I can also get tickets next to The Fort, so you can experience the fun without having to disgrace yourself. You'll have a chance to inform me of your preference when you fill out the form .
Here are some links to relevant and potentially useful websites:
http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/ -- General info about the Revs. You can purchase tickets here, though if you respond to me about coming to one or both of the games above I will get the tickets for you.
http://www.midnightriders.com/ -- The Midnight Riders are not, as Becca suggests, some strange porn-related group. They are an "independent supporters association". Basically, they get me my yearly parking pass that puts us in a sweet spot right near the gate. And they sort of keep the spirit of The Fort going, with chants and cheers and rants and jeers and such. Check out the link. There is a test on these songs. It's a survival-based test. Either you walk away from The Fort, or you don't.
Directions to Gillette Stadium -- It may sound cliché, but if you follow the link and enter your starting address you really CANNOT miss it. We should be parking in the East Lot, but this may change based on expected turnout and tailgating plans, so more details will be provided to those who plan to attend.
As a final note, any or all of you are more than welcome to join us at any Revs match. Check the schedule and lemme know if you want in.
