Specific Info (New Stuff) : Schedule || Directions || What to Bring
The links below direct you to the various places we'll be going over the course of the weekend. The originating point for each set of directions is the previous location where the group will be, with the exception of the first soccer game (originates in Groton, CT). If you follow the link you will be able to change the "Start Address" to be whatever you want.
If possible, please Please PLEASE carpool. Not only with the Earth thank you for it, but it will make the parking situation at the stadium, the trailhead and the campground a lot easier.
Soccer Game on Thursday 8/2/07 - Gillette Stadium - Foxborough, MA
The stadium is located at 1 Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA.
It's easy to get to. From I-495 or I-95 you can just follow the signs to Gillette Stadium. Of course, you must be heading in the right direction on these highhways, so use the link if you don't know where you're going. If you can find your way to anywhere near the stadium, it's quite true that you cannot miss it.
Tailgating will be with the Midnight Riders in their own area of the "East Club Lot". From Route 1, follow the "P1" parking area signs, then the "Midnight Riders" parking area signs. Use the parking pass here to get into the Midnight Riders lot. Look for the blue Blazer with the Texas flag (given to me by the one and only Nathaniel). If you're not tailgating, you can park anywhere you want and meet me at 6:30 at the northwest main gate for your tickets. Either way, click the tiny map below for a picture that will help you know where to go.
Our seats are in "The Fort", a.k.a. Section 143. Click below to see how to get there from the gate.
Hiking on Friday 8/3/07 - Franconia Notch, NH
We'll be meeting for the Friday hike at the Lonesome Lake Trailhead at the Lafayette Campground parking area in Franconia Notch. Be there early and be ready to hit the trail AT 10AM!!! Don't be late, because it's impossible for me to know if you're really going to make it or not, and if you're not there by 10am I must assume you will not make it. Of course, you can always show up late and play catch-up. It's up to you.
There is trailhead parking on both sides of I-93 between exits 34A and 34B. There is no exit number for the parking areas, but you can easily follow the signs for Lafayette Place/Lafayette Campground and Hiker Parking from either direction. Do NOT follow any other signs, including but not limited to, "The Flume", "Flume Visitor Center", "The Basin", "Indian Head Viewing", "Old Man Viewing", "Old Man Historic Site/Area", and I'm sure there are others. If you miss the turnoff when traveling north, you can turn around at exit 34B. If traveling north, I would recommend trying the parking area on that side, and if it's full continue north and turn around at exit 34B to get to the southbound parking area.
This link gets you to the parking area on the southbound side of I-93. Google Maps doesn't show the parking area on the northbound side, but trust me it is there.
No matter what side you park on, you'll need to find your way to the trailhead. Don't worry, it's easy. Click on the picture below for a handy map.
Camping on Friday and Saturday Night - Campton Campground - Campton, NH
The campground we'll be staying at is Campton Group Area B, part of the Campton Campground on Route 49 (Waterville Road) in Campton, NH. Don't be intimidated by how many times I used the word "Campton" in the previous sentence. I've visited the campsite and can assure you it's super easy to find. From I-93, take exit 28 and head east on route 49 for almost exactly 2 miles. There will be signs for Campton Campground. We're in Group Area B on the south side of route 49 (take a right when heading east). The road takes you through a wooded area and into an open picnic/day-use area. Go through the picnic area and take a left toward group area B, then another left after passing through some more trees.
Our area is actually on both sides of the camp road. My goal is to set up a common area for cooking and bonfiring and making noise towards one end of the group area. This will hopefully allow those seeking quieter sleeping conditions to set up at the far end away from the common area. I'm not exactly sure how this will work out. We'll have to improvise.
